Amarillo - 17-year-old Monika is overcome with grief as she recounts her long-distance relationship with Trolley Square gunman Sulejman Talovic. Over the final sixteen days of Talovic's life, Monika spoke with him on the phone for a total of approximately 1700 minutes, often late into the night. They talked of life, love, and a possible future marriage. In the weeks following Talovic's murderous attack and subsequent death, Monika has trouble sleeping and leaves the lights on at night. She sleeps with her phone on her pillow, waiting for another phone call from Talovic that never comes. Monika was photographed in her bedroom in the Amarillo, Texas home where she lives with her mother. The Salt Lake Tribune/Trent Nelson; 3.10.2007
