There is a blog that just steals and reposts all of my posts.

I was very excited that there was another FLDS blog and was looking forward to conversations – until I saw the content. Post after post after post.

Makes me heartbroken. This takes a lot of my time.

Sorry to hear that you’ve joined me in the upset club. I know exactly how you feel. I can’t help you much with your frustration, but you can help me with mine. You can make me feel a little better by adding a photo credit to all of the flash flood photos of mine you have been posting without any credit whatsoever. it’s the very least you can do, especially now that you know how it feels.

Not only does it take a lot of MY time to make these photographs of the FLDS community, it costs a lot of money for equipment, travel, food, and lodging.

For future reference – Trent Nelson/The Salt Lake Tribune.

Thanks!

Trent, THAT IS NOT COMPARABLE. You are a gainfully employed photographer. This is NOT something you do WITHOUT PAY, in your free time. This is YOUR JOB. So no, you do NOT “exactly know” how I feel.
“The money for equipment, travel, food, and lodging” is or should ALSO be provided by your employer, the Salt Lake Tribune. That has little to do with me, since again: I’m not paid. I am not a magazine, a newspaper or a journalist or a TV station. (There are however several paid newspapers, including the Salt Lake Tribune, paid blogs with advertisers and contracts etc who use my posts. Often also without credit.)

We also do not “compete”- your competitors are OTHER photographers. So the equivalent would be OTHER photographers claiming they took your pictures. I’m pretty certain people KNOW that the pictures are not taken by me. (C’mon!)

You know exactly how to contact me. So you could have said “I don’t want you to post pictures taken by me or if you do, only with credit.” Why didn’t you? Given that you have posted pictures before expressly for me, how do you think I would know that?

I have also mentioned you WAY OFTEN on this tumblr. Just YESTERDAY in fact. The person I am referring to does not mention me as source once.

Now that I do know that – I’ll simply NOT post any of your pictures. I can delete flood pictures you took if you prefer. (I may not recognize all though, so feel free to email me.) I am presuming that what you’re implying by “very least” is that you prefer for me not to post any pictures taken by you.

PLUS: You use that “hat trick” whereby you take a picture of someone else’s picture and then it is yours and can be sold without credit. BTW (and this is not a rhetorical question:) Did anyone pay Chris Wyler?

If you do NOT understand however why your comparison is incredibly shitty, I will be quite disappointed in you. I already am. I also dislike that you made this about you instead of acknowledging what is going on with me or ignoring it completely and messaging me regarding what you want.

It sounds like we agree on this – if you can’t be bothered to put a simple photo credit with my photos, just don’t post them. I’m only looking for a little common courtesy.
